Renewables

IMG’s renewables team has been actively involved in the renewable/alternative energy industry for many years. Our lawyers have experience with advising developers, stakeholders, and venture capitalists, on the logistics of offshore construction projects, on the particulars of offshore wind, wave, and tidal projects, and on the nuances of carbon capture and storage projects.

Offshore Construction

In the same way that we used our shipping expertise to take ourselves into oil and gas work, so too we now leverage our experience in offshore construction, drilling, and shipping to develop our wind and energy practice. Our offshore energy experience means that we confidently advise businesses in the offshore construction of renewable sources of energy.

Offshore Wind

IMG advices our clients on a wide range of issues related to BIMCO Supplytime 1989 and 2005 charter party forms, the calculation of off-hire under offshore supply vessel contracts, the use of charter parties between contractors and energy companies for specialist vessels, and the financing of offshore sources of energy, such as wind generation.

Knowledge and Experience

What We Do

Much of our international trade and commodities work comes from the oil and gas industry. We act in relation to disputes arising under both trading and shipping contracts. We also represent some of word’s major independent oil traders on all issues relating to their oil and gas trading, contractual needs, regulatory inquiries, or contentious matters.

IMG’s legal team has vast experience of working closely with a number of major players in the mining industry. We have a thorough understanding of the legal framework governing the industry, and advise on day-to-day administration, as well as handling transactions and acting as counsel in disputes. IMG also offers an exceptionally strong and experienced maritime law team, which has represented mining companies in several charter party disputes.

The lawyers at IMG have expertise in all aspects of LNG transportation contracts. This includes: LNG sale and purchase agreements; joint venture agreements; ship management and crewing arrangements; structuring and negotiation of LNG shipment and charter party agreements; and the financing and construction of LNG carriers including advice on LNG shipbuilding contracts and disputes.

IMG’s energy and offshore lawyers play an integral role in corporate transactions – evaluating environmental risks, advising on risk management and allocation, and exploring and devising practical solutions to environmental problems. Whether it’s a complex joint venture, a note offering, or project development, IMG’s legal skills give our clients an edge in dealing with the legal nuances in energy and offshore challenges.
